After you book
No surprises on the day.
Between the confirmation email and your first round of drilling, here is exactly what happens.
- 1A confirmation lands in your inbox
It carries your class, the day, the time, and our address on 12600 South.
- 2Arrive ten or fifteen minutes early
Someone will greet you at the door. Nobody is left standing around wondering where to go.
- 3Sign a short waiver, then look around
You'll meet the instructor teaching your class and see where everything is before you change.
- 4Train with the class
Warm-up, then a few simple techniques taught slowly. You go at your own pace the whole way.
- 5Talk it through afterward
An instructor will walk you through the programs and the times that fit your week.
One hour on the mat, and you'll know whether this is for you. That's the only thing your first class is meant to answer.

Booking questions
The things people ask before they book.
Is the first class really free?
Yes. One full class, at no charge. Nothing is due on the day, and you do not need to enter payment details to hold your spot.
What should I wear?
A t-shirt with athletic shorts or leggings, with no zippers, pockets, or buttons. If your class trains in the Gi, we lend you one.
Do I need to own a Gi?
No. First-time students at Gracie Barra Riverton do not need to own a Gi. We provide a loaner Gi for your introductory class.
How early should I arrive?
Ten or fifteen minutes before the class starts. That leaves time for a short waiver, a look around, and a hello with your instructor.
How young can my child start?
Children can begin at 3 years old, as long as they are potty trained. From there, classes are grouped by age.
Can I watch a class before I book?
Yes. You are welcome to come in and watch a full class. Call ahead at (801) 436-7373 so we know to expect you.
What if I need to change my time?
Call or email us and we move your reservation to another class. Changing your trial date costs nothing.
