That last part surprises people. The freeway runs between the two cities, so the school reads as far away on a map. But 12300 South passes over I-15 rather than feeding into it, which means the drive is the same length at six in the evening as it is at two in the afternoon.

Three ways in, depending on where in Draper you start. None of them puts you on I-15.
12300 South straight west, over I-15 and on toward Bangerter Highway, then a short hop south to 12600 South. One road for almost the whole trip.

Why Draper members make the drive
Draper is a city of fifty thousand people with no shortage of places to train. Nobody drives here because there is nothing closer. They drive here because of what happens once they arrive, and that is a higher bar for us to clear than it is with a town five minutes away.
What they tend to name is structure. Adults with no experience start in GB1 Fundamentals rather than being dropped into whatever class is running that night. Children are grouped by age first, then by size and skill, so a small six year old is not paired with a tall nine year old. Every instructor holds Gracie Barra ICP certification and current first aid and emergency response training, and the classes follow the same curriculum used in more than 1,300 Gracie Barra schools worldwide.
The other thing that keeps people is that the drive is boring. Surface roads all the way means the trip takes the same twelve minutes whether you leave at five thirty or eight. A commute you can predict is a commute you stop thinking about, and that is usually what decides whether someone is still training in March.
